Below is the 2017 Feast Programme of events for our English speaking members and residents.
Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Naxxar 2017.
This is a concise summary of the main activities organized by the Victoria Band Club.
The Festa B.B.Q. – Friday 25th August 2017: This yearly rendezvous is a fund raising activity that will be held in the parish oratory that is situated in Oratory Street right behind the Parish Church. The activity kicks off at 8.00 pm and it will be entertained by local rock and roll star Freddy Portelli amongst others.
The Kids Festa – Friday 1st September 2017: At 5.30 pm, the Victoria Band will accompany a short procession in St. Lucy Street in the vicinity of the Victoria Band Club. This activity is entirely intended for kids where they will have the opportunity to carry a miniature processional statue. This will be followed by a party that will commence at’ 6.45 pm. Tickets can be acquired on site.
The Victoria Band Annual Concert – Saturday 2nd September 2017: The Victoria Band will perform its annual festa concert which will be conducted by its director Mro. Roderick Bugeja. Indeed this is an ideal soiree for music enthusiasts and it will take place close to St. Lucy’s Chapel in St. Lucy Street. The audience is advised to be seated by not later than 8.15 pm.
Festive March – Monday 4th September 2017: At 8.30 pm the Victoria Band will hold a march in the Sgħajtar area. This will reach the Main Square at 11.00 pm and will be followed by the “Victory” pyromusical show organized by the Victorian Youths. The activity terminates with ground fireworks.
The Main Feast March – Wednesday 6th September 2017: At 8.30 pm the Victoria Band will perform festive marches in the vicinity of the Victoria Band Club. The band will enter the Main Square at 11.15 pm accompanied by its jubilant enthusiasts. This is by far the most awaited event and it will be followed by an impressive mechanised Catherine wheels display.
The Eve of the Feast – Thursday 7th September 2017: The Victoria Band will play festive marches at 7.30 pm. At 9.00 pm the band will cross the Main Square where it will be joined with a processional statue of Our Lady. This will be accompanied close to the Victoria Band Club in St. Lucy Street where it will be raised on its magnificent pedestal.
Victory Day – Friday 8th September 2017: At 11.00 am the Victoria Band will start its traditional feast day march. This will proceed from the Main Square to St. Lucy Street where it reaches its climax and comes to an end. At around 9.00pm, the procession will be near the premises of our club where it will be greated with enthusiasm accompanied by a fanfare from our wind band
